Sparkles. Glitter. Books. My horoscope sign is a Cancer. Writing. Music. Friends. Teenager. Junior in high school. Two younger brothers. A younger sister. A mom and a dad. See I told you so much about me just in a couple of words! When you talk about yourself you don't need to have a whole novel written out, I mean you can if you really want to but in this case I felt like I didn't have to. I mean I'm just a simple city girl, who goes to high school and is waiting for the day I graduate so I can finally take flight and fly away from my parents to embark on my own journey, not the journey my parents have sculpted out for me. I love them but they can't tell me what to do with my future, they can make suggestions but they can't make me do what they want.
While they want me to be a nurse, what I'd like to do in the future is a job that involves both of my loves: music and writing. I've always loved music, it's been a way that I can express myself and make myself feel better when I'm not in the best mood. Huge influences of mine would probably be Nirvana, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Hey Monday, Cage the Elephant, Avril Lavigne and My Chemical Romance. Each artist has something appealing about them that draws me to them, not only do I like their sound but I also like their lyrics. Before I just focused on the musical aspect but since I've written lyrics for a while, I also notice the lyrical aspect of music. If I could one day write lyrics for musicians that would be awesome! I'd really love to work with the people who have influenced me.
Since I like writing, I've also written stories before or I've tried writing stories. I've only successfully completed two novels, one was about three hundred pages and the other was about four hundred pages. The one that's about four hundred pages I just finished back in June, I was very proud of myself, I mean it takes a lot of motivation and patience to write a novel I realized. Some days were better then others but I'm finally happy to say I finished it, now I just need to edit it, type it out and write the rest of the series. Boy that sounds like a lot of work but I'm sure I'll be able to do it, I believe in myself.
So I know that today was supposed to be a music review but things changed, this blog is for my AP Language and Composition class so my teacher wanted us to do a post about ourselves, so I did. I'll try to get a book review on Sunday and I'll make sure I have a music review next Wednesday! Try to keep up with me as I continue this blog! I'll really appreciate it!

Back to School Tips!
Ana M. here with my first official blog post! That's right, I'm expanding my so called, "writing skills" to the blogging world! Since today is Monday, it means today is whatever random topic I feel like talking about. What I feel like talking about today is school, we all agree that we love to hate school. I mean what's not to hate! You have to wake up early, you've got school projects, Algebra homework, tests, quizzes and a bunch of other stuff! Like me, maybe you already started school and maybe some of you are dreadfully awaiting that condemning day. Well I thought it'd be nice to share some things I'm going to do to get through my junior year!
1. Create a play list- There's nothing that I love more then music! Music gets me through those rough days and especially when I'm doing homework! It helps me keep going!
2. Stay Organized- This is an obvious one but come on! Some people still don't make an effort to stay organized! I just love sitting in class and watching that one kid go through his backpack and there he is pulling paper after paper as if it were some magic trick! Stay organized, try color coding, that's what I'm trying this year and I have no reason to complain so far. Buy a planner if your school doesn't provide one or get an app that reminds you about school assignments, there's billions of apps out there!
3. Highlighters and Post it Notes- These little guys should be your best friends, I love to highlight stuff when I get reading packets in addition to the notes I take. They come in handy when you're looking for the key ideas of something.
4. Lockers- If you have a locker, use it! I hate carrying around things I really don't need at the moment. What I do is I get my stuff for my first three classes of the day, that way I don't have to keep making stops continuously. Then, after my first three classes, I put that stuff away in exchange for my stuff for the last three classes of the day. If I have any homework, I just slip that paper behind the divider tab it belongs to in my homework binder, that's right, I got a homework binder, I'm trying to be an organized student this year okay!
5. Have Fun- Okay, I know it's school we're talking about here but I feel like there's something everybody looks forward to. I always look forward to seeing the friends I haven't seen over the summer, I look forward to my favorite class which is anything language arts related. Maybe you're looking forward to meeting new people, becoming captain of the football team or cheerleading squad, joining a school club. Whatever it is you're excited about, don't let anyone ruin it for you! Have an amazing year!
